FC Team reached the quarter-finals of the London FA Cup for the first time after thumping Brampton Park 7-1.
They put the Essex Housing League champions to the sword in Harrow courtesy of goals from Laurence Judah, Jonny Breger and Richard Salmon were among the scorers. Irvine Howson (3) and supersub Kieran Curry Allen completed the rout.
Going into the tie, Team manager Mitch Young kept the same starting 11 as the previous week with Kieran Allen Curry returning to the bench.
The game started in fiery fashion with Brampton playing a high line and pushing men forward the team midfield three of Jules Noti, Jonny Breger and Laurence Judah heavily involved in the action.
Brampton’s tricky left-winger was causing right-back Ollie Segal some problems early on which saw him give away a few early free kicks but this failed to trouble Team.
With Brampton playing such a high line it was team that was able to capitalise early on with Salmon causing all sorts of problems. The deadlock was broken after 10 minutes when on the counter attack Breger fed Howson whose blistering pace saw him beat two men, going one on one with keeper. Howson’s initial effort was saved by the keeper but from the rebound, the ball came out to Howson who spotted the on-rushing Laurence Judah to hammer home his third of the season making it 1-0 to Team.
They held the lead for just five minutes however as hopeful free kick from Brampton saw Team unable to clear their lines. The ball fell to the Brampton striker unchallenged smashed home the volley that Mendelsohn could do nothing about.
Team spurned a couple more chances but made it 2-1 five minutes before half time. Weyman delivered a cross to Howson at the back post. The striker smashed the ball into the top corner from close range.
Young made a sub at half time bringing on the enigma Allen Curry for Weyman.
Five minutes into the half Team made it 3-1. Great work form Allen Curry found Salmon who muscled his way past the defender to lay it sqaure to Jon Breger whose pinpoint accurate shot from 10 yards found the bottom corner.
Brampton begun to lose their heads and on the 60 minute mark got a player sent off for a punch on Salmon.
Team then took total control and shortly made it 4-1. Salmon and Allen Curry linked up to allow Howson to slot home at the far post.
Salmon then scored a well deserved goal being put through by Curry to make it 6-1.
Curry, Salmon and Howson were simply unstoppable. Howson completed his hat-trick after a great run down the right before blasting home from 15 yards.
Judah and Noti were dictating things in the middle of the park and the Team defence and keeper were untroubled as the pace dropped to a training match pace.
Team squandered a hatful more chances with Breger and Curry hitting the bar.
Allen Curry finished the job after tremendous work from Salmon- beating three men and the keeper before laying it square to Curry for a tap in to make it 7-1.
Manager Mitch Young said: "A stunning performance by my Team in an important cup tie against decent opponents who beat Premier opposition last round. We forced this team to capitulate with our spirit and organisation and our strikers done the rest. Richard Salmon and Irvine Howson take no prisoners and, when you throw Kieran Allen Curry into the pot, they just can’t be stopped.
“We are proud to be in the last eight and the squad firmly believe we can reach a final for the first time in the clubs history. We have the best squad the club has ever had and we are on the right path to achieving our full potential.
“However, we can’t get too carried away about the result as we now focus on getting three points against Regent Park on Saturday as we continue to challenge for promotion to the Premier County Division. All in all though, it’s a great day for the players and the club."
