One of the most eagarly anticipated friendly games took place at Elmbridge Sports Centre in Essex leaving the supporters going home seeing an action packed game.
The match started evenly with both teams having a feel for each other but it was the away side who drew first blood after a failed clearance by Marks giving FC Team the chance to cross the ball in sweetly and Adam Rones rose the highest and nodded the ball in to take the lead.
Things started turning against the knights with full back steve clements recieving a ticking off and a yellow card for a dangerous tackle following an earlier incident.
FC Team grabbed them self a corner which was taken by Mitch Young, he whipped the ball in dangerously which evaded everyone including Jon Labi and found its way into the top corner with a little help from the goalkeeper.
Like true dogged east london style the home side rolled up there sleeves sensing a real test on there hands, and deservedly pulled a goal back after a stunning through ball from Josh Danan sending James on his way, with pace and power beating the last defender and smashing the ball just inside the area off the underside of the cross bar in emphatic style. James was unlucky moments earlier after unleashing a free kick with venom which was too hot to handle for Perkin who tipped over for a corner.
Going in at half time 2-1 down the knights could feel quite pleased with how they ended the half and felt extremely confident of grabbing an equaliser and this is exactly what they did, Michael Marks swinging in a left footed free kick which fell to his brother Simon, who then flicked the ball on with a huge scrap in the box the ball fell kindly to second-half substitute Zach Forest who slotted home neatly.
The Knights really began to feel some success coming this afternoon but almost immediately after drawing level, FC Team produced some good work down the left hand side and there winger drove in a good cross while taking a wicked deflection off danny franklin seeing him slice the ball into his own net.
The knights felt a little aggrieved by this after FC Team regained the lead against the run of play. Moments later another good move in central midfield by the away side saw danny franklin upend the striker inside the box leaving the referee with no option but to award the away side with a spot kick.
Cool, calm and collected as ever Rones stepped up and despatch the penalty away neatly.
The knights refused to let there heads drop with a superb battling mentality, with player of the match for the knights Michael Konzon slipping a defense splitting pass to left winger Michael Marks who unselfishly layed the ball back into the path of James who delicately chipped the ball over Mike Perkin to bag his 2nd of the game.
East London Knights nearly earnt them self a draw and by all means deserved so, with everyone watching thinking they had to with another box to box run by Konzon who delivered a sweet pass into the 6 yard box and unbelievably both strikers Ryan and Simon Marks failed to connect with and watching the ball roll agonisingly wide.
All in all it was another gutsy and strong performance by the knights which they can take heart from but just fell short at the last, well done to FC Team we wish them the best of luck this season.
East London Knights Assitant Manger Michael Marks said: "We were unfortunate not to grab an equaliser at the death but thats football, we are still making naive errors at times that are costing us but in time im sure they will be eradicated."
