In the Henry Swerner Maccabi Masters League Cup, sponsored by Tux’n’Tails, the big shock was provided by Faithfold, who raced into an early 3-0 lead against London Maccabi Lions A, then found themselves 5-3 down by half-time. They eventually clawed it back to 5-5 by the end of normal time, and won 4-2 on penalties.

Lions’ goals in normal time came from Dan Reuben (2, both pens), Andy Miller, Ben Dale and Stacy Eden, but these were cancelled out by goals from Faithfold’s Adam Barton (2), Andy Hearn and two own goals, before the dramatic penalty shoot-out put the Hoops into the quarter finals.

Joining them in the draw are South Mancs, who dispatched Ashlodge 5-0 courtesy of goals from Barry Abraham (2), David Hyman, Jon Cohen and Mark Shooter.

Also through are Temple Fortune B, for whom Phil Small, Graham Meyer, Jeremy Fess and James Ryan scored, giving them a 4-1 win over Brady B, for whom Martin Schultz scored a consolation.
