Adam Ellis was at his majestic best with an incredible five-goal salvo as Hendon B recorded their first win of the season by hitting Brixton for six at Clowes.
With what is arguably their strongest team out on the pitch today, Hendon expected a performance, although things didn't start well we looked shaky at the back and conceded early to a cracking long-range effort. If anything the goals helped Hendon calm down and start to play football.
Gideon Barth was starting to pose as an issue for Brixton left-back and he picked up the ball on the halfway line went past two and slid the ball into Adam Ellis who was now one-on-one with the keeper and finished calmly.
Minutes later a long ball up to Ellis saw the Team GB striker show great control and waited for support which came in the form Hendon right-back Glen Turnerwho went on the outside, Ellis slid the ball in and Turner finished like a striker sliding the ball under the keeper.
The third came 10 minutes from the end of the half with Ellis receiving the ball on the half way line he took a couple of strides picked his head up and dinked one from all of 40-45 yards and left us all admiring his delicious chip.
The second half started much like the first with Hendon on the back foot and beginning to panic, but some tactical changes by James Neilde to bring on some fresh legs seemed to bring the composure back.
Brixton began to push forward and went to three at the back. A quick throw out from the keeper to Ellis on the halfway line saw him run past four and slot it into the corner.
Stuart Harris went close after some good work by Jono Nesbitt on the edge of the box, Stuart managed to hit the bar and then watch the ball bounce onto the line and back up off the bar, but the ever-alert Ellis was there to poke it back in. Ellis last two goals were a carbon copy of his third, with him getting the ball on the halfway line and running past several players and finishing into the corner.
Hendon joint-manager Jono Nesbitt told JC Sport: "Overall we are delighted with the result and the performance.
"We were a little slow out of the blocks but the determination and energy from the lads today was brilliant, to keep going even after we were 3 or 4 up, everyone showed desire to get more but to also come back and defend when needed.
"Hats off to Adam Ellis today, he was untouchable and scored one hell of a worldy with his chip! Looks like the Hendon Boys may be having a sweet new year after all."
