London Lions started 2012 with a bang after claiming a stunning 4-2 away win at Welwyn Garden City in the Molten Spartan South Midlands League.

Braces from defender Adam Myeroff and former Dagenham & Redbridge man Sam Sloma capped a fine display in a match where the Lions defied the odds.

They had no less than 30 players unavailable, had just one recognisable centre-half and only one substitute. Added to that, manager Tony Gold was bed-ridden with a virus.

Jon Green and David Snelman took control of the game, with Danny Berliner, Avi Schwarz, James Stanley, Dan Lipman and Aron Barnes all coming into the side for their first starts in several months.
