HERTS SENIOR COUNTY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
LONDON LIONS 3 BUNTINGFORD 1
First-half strikes from Josh Kennet, Austin Lipman and Charlie Kasler kept London Lions in second place in the Herts County League Premier Division following a 3-1 success at home to Buntingford.
In what a contests littered by niggly fouls, Lions were the side that really looked the threat throughout.
Kennet and Jordan Marks looked a danger from the wings, and it was skipper KENNET who opened the score on 12 minutes when he broke clear and had the calmness to slot the ball past the keeper.
Lions had to wait until 40 minutes for another despite a few good chances; but two goals came in quick succession to ultimately win the points.
Firstly, a goal-of-the-season contender from LIPMAN received the ball from a short corner 25 years out, and whipped the ball into the far top corner for a stunning strike.
Minutes later, KASLER scored his first of the season after his free-kick cruelly deflected in to leave Lions 3-0 up at the break.
The second half was comfortable for a dominant Lions. Sam Sloma failed to find the net despite some creative play, and he and Marks in particular went close, with Kasler and Kennet also not quite finding their range as well as being denied by a string of good saves from the Buntingford ‘keeper.
With the rain now making conditions harder, it was the visitors who scored from a low fizzing drive to ruin David Myers’ clean sheet at the last; but Lions had more than done enough to win by then.
