Manchester Maccabi boss Stuart Delmonte was left scratching his head after his side failed to run up a cricket score against Astley Arms.
Delmonte’s men smashed six past their lowly opponents with Jonny Quinn taking the plaudits following his stunning hat-trick.
Ashley Loofe, Michael Sacks and Adam Stevens were also on target but Delmonte could scarcely believe just how many chances his side frittered away.
“We should have scored about 10,” he said. “We just aren’t taking our chances in front of goal and it’s mad because we still scored six.
“We missed three one-on-ones, we hit the woodwork twice and their goalkeeper produced two brilliant saves.
“We need to be more ruthless in front of goal because we’re not scoring enough.”
While Delmotne might be disappointed with some of his side’s finishing, he can have no complaints with the in-form Quinn.
The prolific striker fired Maccabi ahead from 18-yards before notching a second just before the half-hour mark.
Ashley Loofe added a third latching on to Jay McGarvey’s corner before an own-goal from Sacks reduced the arrears.
Sacks did manage to atone for his error, smashing home a 63rd minute penalty before Josh Hayes set up Adam Stevens to make it 5-1.
Astley scrambled a goal back but Quinn sealed the win and his hat-trick with a classy volley 18 minutes from time.
Michael Green, Adam Green and Alex Singer all missed glorious opportunities to extend the margin of victory but Delmonte was happy with the points.
“It was a good win and we’re playing some very good football,” he added.
“It was a very good performance and we need to build on it.”
