Republic of Mancunia have pulled off a managerial masterstroke after securing the signatures of Stuart Delmonte and Tony Rosenberg.
The duo, who left their roles at Manchester Maccabi 1st on Tuesday, have agreed a deal to take over the
Republic 1st team after their resignations were accepted by club chairman Howard Hyman.
Delmonte and Rosenberg are both highly respected within Jewish football following their triumph in leading
Maccabi to national success in the Peter Morrison Trophy glory last season. The new management team will replace Simon Kaye at Republic, who will remain at the club in a playing capacity.
“Republic are a sleeping giant in the MJSL and we’re here to wake them up,” said Delmonte.
“Leaving Maccabi wasn’t a decision which was made lightly, but we just felt it was time to move on.
“We leave with some fantastic memories, especially winning the Morrison Trophy and there’s absolutely no animosity between us and Maccabi.
“We really believe we can do something special and our plan is to build a team that can go from the MJSL and win the Morrison Trophy.
“I’ve already been on the phone to new players and we’ll be back in pre-season training in five weeks time.”
Joint-manager Rosenberg is also looking forward to the challenge of revitalising a Republic 1st side, which was beaten in two cup finals and finished a disappointing seventh in the league.
“We know that the MJSL is of a lower standard than what we’re used to in the Tameside League but we want to change that,” he added.
“We’ve had a great time at Maccabi but this is a new challenge and we’re looking forward to it.”
Republic’s Jamie Lyons said: "The opportunity to work with managers with the experience and pedigree of Stuart and Tony is something which is very exciting for the players who can't wait to get stuck into pre-season training.
"The club would like to thank Simon Kaye for his exemplary leadership of the team during the second half of the season, where we were unlucky to finish without any trophies.
His contribution to the running of the club was integral to the continuity of a club with massive ambitions. Simon will continue to play for Republic of Mancunia and welcomes the new management team as the best thing for the future of the football club.
"Having formed in 2008, Republic of Mancunia are still a fairly new club to the MJSL, and unlike other clubs we don't want to disappear and fold due to lack of planning.
We feel that the appointment of Stuart and Tony will put the club in a great position to compete for trophies for many seasons to come."
