Alon Day, the Israeli Formula Three driver, will be one of 19 trialists looking to make it onto the FIA Institute's inaugural Young Driver Excellence Academy.
Competitors from Finland to New Zealand will take part in the three day process, which encompasses a series of both driving and non-driving assessments. Ten drivers qualify for the academy, but Day's chances should be enhanced by the fact that at least one driver is to come from each of the organisation's five funding regions, with the Israeli one of just two drivers from the Middle East and Africa region, along with Bahrain's Hamad Ahmed Al-Fardan.
