Some people will tell you there is no good, young talent coming through in the JC MSFL. This Select XI tells me they couldn't be more wrong. The Maccabi League is alive and kicking.
1. OLLIE BROOKS (Redbridge Jewish Care B) - a young keeper with a big future. Fantastic handling, great on crosses, made some exceptional saves, a big reason why RJC conceded the second-fewest of goals, had a great season
2. JOSH PISTOL (Norstar A) - "outstanding first season at the club. Strong, quick, athletic centre half who loves making tackles and making things happen from the back of the pitch. At 21, he has a very bright Norstar future ahead of him"
3. HARRISON GRANT (Redbridge Jewish Care B) - "aged 16, had a very good season played in nine different positions week in, week out showed fantastic attitude and was a model of consistency. Covered every blade of grass and was always one of RJC's best players on the park"
4. BEN HILDEBRAND (Brady Maccabi B) - "whilst attacking from full back is Hildebrand's specialty, defensively he has become a rock in Brady's back four. His pace means that he is very rarely beaten by a winger, whilst his defensive nous means that he is able to fill in anywhere across the back four and excel, which he has done on occasion. However, it is going forward where Hildebrand has marked himself out this season, often doubling up with the winger against a defending full back to great effect, with his marauding runs memorably forcing an own goal against Brixton Old Boys, and scoring a key late goal against FC Team"
5. JAKE SAUNDERS (Camden Park) - "at just 19, shouldered so much responsibility, the vital cog in our midfield, hardly ever misplaced a pass, and once his fitness was up, he was unstoppable. A real star of the future, and awarded Camden Park player of the season 11/12"
6. YOAV LEBENS (London Maccabi Lions A) - good hair, great player. Yoav took his game up a level after being handed the coveted captain's armband at Rowley Lane. If he has a weakness, I haven't seen it. Leads by example, commanding in the air, and scored some fabulous goals
7. MAX KYTE (London Maccabi Lions B) - was always guaranteed a place in the team his managed by his brother but in all seriousness, this boy has got the lot in his locker. Countless assists for James Gold. A Maccabiah star in the making
8. REISS MOGILNER (Brady Maccabi B) - "the young winger has been a threat to all he has played against this season, and has performed consistently, as shown by the fact that he is the Brady player who has the most team of the week appearances. He provided goals and assists from both sides with both feet, and has pace and a hunger for the ball that made him a potent threat and an invaluable attacking outlet all season long"
9. DEAN SHAW (Blizzard Storm) - "he was unplayable at times, superb on the left side"
10. SAM SOLLOSI (Redbridge Jewish Care A) - the boy is quite simply a class act. With a strong football pedigree in the family, he has improved year upon year and at such a tender age has done incredibly well to cement his place in such a high-class team
11. OLLIE CRAIG (London Maccabi Lions A) - the team's top-scorer and Sunday Young Player of the Year. Was on top of his game on a regular basis, leading defences a merry dance. Some of his strikes were out of the top-drawer
