While Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney continue to dominate the headlines in the summer transfer window, there have been some big deals going through in the MSFL.
For me, Brady Maccabi’s capture of hotshot Lee Cash is a real game-changer. The former Athletico Stanmore, North West Neasden and London Maccabi Lions striker has been one of the most prolific marksmen in the league over the last 10 years and he could be the missing link for Brady’s title hopes.
Having clinched the Peter Morrison Trophy last season, it’s clear the Rowley Lane club mean business and I can see the acquisition of Cash taking them to the next level.
A central midfielder is now the missing piece in the jigsaw as Brady look to overpower the likes of
defending champions Faithfold, Hendon United Sports Club, Redbridge Jewish Care and London Maccabi Lions.
Former South Mancs star Ben Goldberg is another new face at Brady. He personifies exactly what Brady are trying to do – Jewish football domination. They have a star-studded line-up from 1-11 and will be confident of going the distance.
Another club that has shown great intention in the transfer market is Chigwell Athletic. Manager Richard Slater has bolstered the ranks with six exciting signings. Veteran striker Steve Summers is arguably the one Chigwell fans are most excited about. His decision to drop down a division raised many eyebrows, but the ambitions of Slater and co have never been in doubt.
Having a double winner in their ranks is sure to bring the best out of the Chigwell players and ensure there will rarely be an empty seat in the house at the Peter May Sports Centre.
Craig Sandford and Hadley Silver will provide experience and, most importantly, a winning mentality, while Ranaan Firmin, Ryan Cole and Elliott Bloom add versatility and depth the what is already a decent squad.
After two bad seasons, it’s clear North West Neasden mean business as well. Steven Murad has taken charge of the club as chairman. Together with Joshua Tiano, he has appointed Andrew Goldman as manager and will form the management team for this upcoming season.
NWN were confident of securing the services of Michael Goldberg from Temple Fortune, along with Kane Gilbery and James Lee. Murad said: "It was an opportunity we couldn’t turn down. NWN has a long and successful history in the MSFL and it would have be a real loss to the league and Jewish football for it to have folded."
