Lying second in the British League Division One, Brighton are looking to build on an excellent start that featured a hat-trick of victories.
The 7-1 success against Urban Progress, last year’s Division One champions, was the most eye-catching with their opponents featuring top Hungarians Gergely Urban and Tibor Kadar.
The Brighton team includes captain Dov Katz, the men’s Maccabiah medallist and England men’s No. 90, Jewish No. 1 Ashley Stokes, Eli Baraty and former England international Cris Sladden, ranked 49 in the country.
They followed up the victory over Urban Progress by defeating BATTS Peniel 5-3 and home side Cippenham 5-3 after the first round of matches.
Katz said: “I am delighted with the start. To destroy last year’s champions was an awesome feat in itself and we are now very hopeful that this season will see us reach the dizzy heights of the Premiership.
“This is certainly the strongest team I have played in to date and with the quality of players present, including England legend Sladden, we have every chance.
“There is a strong team camaraderie which will make us a force to be reckoned with.
“That said, the standard is exceptionally high and if we make it to the Premiership personally I would have achieved a lifelong ambition to play at the highest national level.
The next round of matches is scheduled to take place in Devon on the weekend of October 9-10.
