David Jacobs admits Team Maccabi GB's Bridge players must put itself back on the map ahead of next month's European Maccabi Games in Berlin.
Sports Chair Jacobs will spearhead a squad of four players - Irving and Joy Blakely are preparing for their first EMG, while Jeffrey Morris and Stuart Shalom hope their experience of 2011 in Vienna will stand them in good stead.
Jacobs won silver and gold as the Junior Football Manager at the EMG’s in 1991 and 1995. Jacobs was also the delegation’s Team Manager at the EMG in Sterling in 1999 and Rome eight years later.
He said: “It’s time Team Maccabi GB successfully put itself back on the map where Bridge is concerned.
"We have a number of talented players who I know will give their all to get us on the medal table. I am also very excited for the Blakely’s, who are new to this competition.
"Any International Maccabi Games is special. There is a real sense of Community and friendship whenever Jewish athletes compete together and I have no doubt that, due to the historical aspect of Berlin, this is going to be an EMG that the whole Delegation will remember forever.”
