London Maccabi Vale boosted their Chess Valley League title hopes with a six-wicket success over St John’s Wood.

Teenager Jack Davis was amongst the wickets as LMV dismissed SJW for 169 on a slow and low-bouncing wicket. Steven Allweis, Eddie Davis (2-39), Neil Lederman and Adam Spooner (3-38) also chipped in with the ball, while Adam Solomons marked his first match of the season with three catches.

LMV’s reply got off to a bad start when Spooner was bowled, but Danny Caro and Jonny Gould (38) steadied the ship with an important partnership before a typically flambuoyant knock from Adam Brand took the game away from SJW.

Brand struck a flurry of boundaries and a six on his way to 58 before Solomons and Davis knocked off the runs to help maintain LMV’s unbeaten record.
