A late strike by teenager Steve Field won Brady a seven-goal thriller to end FC Team’s 100 per cent record and blow open the JC MSFL Division One title race.
The 17-year old had the simple task of tapping home a finish after forward Mark Smith broke away on the left.
The match, which was even throughout, stood out for its good football, which was given a fine polish by two of the very best forwards outside the top-flight in Team's bustling target man Richard Salmon and Brady's left-wing goal-scoring dynamo Josh Hershman.
Salmon bagged the opener on 12 minutes after he received the ball 20 yards from goal and surged past two defenders before sliding the ball across Oliver Colmans.
Cue Hershman to do even better: the 22-year-old sprung up with a darting run inside the left side of the Brady defence to meet an Adam Graham pass with an excellent first touch before hammering in a shot with his weaker right foot off the far post.
A minute later Brady were in front after a long ball found Ben Gershuny free in front of goal, with the forward just able to stick out his leg to trickle the ball under Team goalkeeper Dave Grossman.
It meant Team went into the second half on a low after looking the more assured team. Brady defender Ryan Fox’s last-ditch tackle on Salmon minutes before the equaliser proving the game’s most telling moment.
The second half was most noteworthy for Brady’s jitters at defending corners. An early Yoni Benari header was cleared off the line, before Adam Rones made them pay when he met an inswinging free-kick from the left.
Hershman then showed his class once again when he wriggled past two men with fine close control and slid another brilliant shot home across the goalkeeper from an acute angle, this time on his favoured left foot. However, he was again let down at the other end as, just three minutes later and with 12 to play, another dangerous corner from the left was missed by Grossman and met with a Jake Weiner header from close in.
That wasn’t the last of the drama, however, as five minutes from time the unsung forward Mark Smith carried the ball for 20 yards down the left hand side before sending a perfect cross along the six yard box for Field to grab the glory.
Josh Rosenfeld, the Brady manager, said: "I’m a very happy manager after watching probably our perfomance of the season. We all battled hard for each other, showed great character after letting FC Team back into the game twice. However our heads never dropped and we always thought we could win the game.
"We conceded two sloppy goals from a corner which I am not to pleased about, but if you were at the game and looked at all four goals we scored, we are playing such wonderful football and the best thing is we are turning them in to goals.
"However, this is only one win and we go back to training mid week, we work hard and focus on Lions next week."
Brady’s assistant-manager Simon Hakim said: "This a huge fillip for us. We conceded a couple of bad goals from set-pieces but have scored four excellent ones ourselves. There’s three of us up there who are challenging for the title so it’s looking interesting for the rest of the season."
FC Team player manager Mitch Young said: “Fair play to Brady today. They did well. But we won’t be panicking. We have matches in hand and are still very happy with our start. We were caught out a bit on the break, but the goals they got were all well crafted so you have to credit them.”
