Hat-tricks from Mark Smith and scoring sensation Josh Hershman helped Brady Maccabi to a thrashing of promotion rivals Camden Park in JC MSFL division one.
Brady, flying high near the top of the league, were given their edge by Hershman who, although officially a winger, has now bagged 15 in all competitions. Not far behind him was the tireless Smith - who chased every ball.
Brady manager Josh Rosenfeld, who confirmed he had recommended Hershman for Wednesday's Rep Team training session, said: "Both forwards did a tremendous amount of work for the team. They are scoring for fun at the moment. I must stress, though that it's our whole team that is winning us games. We may be small in size but we are as fit and strong as any other team in this league."
Hershman got his team off to a perfect start with a scorching 25-yard half volley early on which Will Castle could only watch sail into his top right hand corner.
There then followed a 15-minute interruption as Camden captain Jamie Lustigman dislocated his shoulder and was taken to hospital. Camden never fully recovered from his loss and, indeed, had to play the last 20 minutes with 10 men after sub Jamie Smith was himself injured.
It was business as usual for Hershman who bagged another midway through the half. He rode a challenge before sliding the ball past the goalkeeper. Ben Harris' superb outswinging free kick for Camden then brought a fabulous flying save from Ollie Colmans, before the Brady goalkeeper controversially gave away a penalty just before half time when deemed to have missed a sliding tackle. He saved Luke Brookner's spot-kick, before Brookner thudded home the rebound to keep his side in touch at the break.
Brady started the second half at a high tempo and were rewarded when Hershman set up Smith for a tap-in before getting his hat-trick when he neatly chested a through ball and slotted home from close range.
The lively Mark Klein appeared to offer Camden hope 20 minutes from time when he took the ball in from the left by-line and curled a brilliant shot round Colmans. However, with Jamie Smith hobbling off Camden were unable to sustain any pressure and conceded two late breakaway goals courtesy of Mark Smith - one a run in on goal from a through pass and the other a tap-in which registered his third and his teams' sixth.
Camden's Jamie Smith said: "It was a disaster today; losing our captain and then myself having to go off. We obviously need a bigger squad. Having said that we actually played quite well in patches, but were caught at the back."
