WFL Blue Division: Brady Maccabi 3 St Albans City 3
Brady Maccabi and St Albans City both contributed to a wonderful game of football on Sunday in very wet conditions.
Brady came into the game in a buoyant mood after last week's win against Evergreen but knew they would be up against an in-form St Albans teams and so it proved as St Albans started the better of the two teams and for the first 10 mins were camped in the Brady Half as they dominated the middle of the park.
They had the first real chance of the match when a good move saw the ball break to the St Albans forward on the edge of the box who fired what looked liked an unstoppable shot at the top right hand corner of the goal only to see Brady's keeper Zack Nathan pull off a wonderful full stretch save to deny them taking the lead.
St Albans continued to dominate but it was Brady who took the lead against the run of play when a fine move down the right flank involving, Harrison Baum, Ben Winters, and Oli Marshall saw the ball break to Davis in the box, who found a little extra space before slotting the ball into the net.
St Albans came back strong and deservedly scored their equaliser with a wonderful goal from the right hand side of the area.
As the half drew to a close Nathan pulled off another great save and from the resulting goal kick Brady won a penalty when Marshall was brought down in the box after good work from Benzaken. Davis calmly slotted the ball home to make the half time score 2-1.
St Albans started the second half looking for another equaliser which they knew they deserved but this was their undoing as Brady capitalised on the gaps at the back and When Davis produced a great bit of individual skill his shot was superbly saved by the St Albans keeper only for Adam Ellis to pounce on the rebound and score his first goal for the club.
St Albans then threw everything at Brady and clawed their way back into the game with a carbon copy of their first goal.
Sensing they could get something out of the game St Albans continued to push forward but Brady could not capitalise on the gaps at the back and were made to pay with five minutes left when a St Albans broke down the middle of the pitch and scored a deserved equaliser.
Both teams tried to find the winning goal but neither could and this pulsating game finished 3-3.
Brady manager Joel Nathan commented: "Although I was disappointed we let a 3-1 lead slip a draw was a fair result, both teams contributed to a great game of football but on a personal point I would like to make a special mention to our keeper Zack Nathan who pulled off some wonder saves today as well as Oli Marshall and Jack Davis who both covered every blade of grass on the pitch."
