Local knowledge proved decisive as Bonnyton secured the top prize at the Provincial Tournament in Glasgow.
Bonnyton lifted the Gerald Tankel Trophy for the winning team nett, accumulating the best aggregate of four out of six scores.
They edged out Edmonstown by two shots with a nett score of 137, with the Dublin club collecting the Joe Dwek Trophy.
The tournament is open to entry from the affiliated clubs and societies other than those in London and the south east in teams of a maximum of six male players scoring under the Stapleford system.
The wet weather ensured that the testing course was even more difficult but had the benefit of ensuring the participants were not attacked by the infamous midges.
Ross McSkimming recorded 39 points to secure the Marshall Bellow Trophy. He edged out Niall Clarke and Niall Walsh, both of Edmonstown, by one point.
* Home advantage was also key as Coombe Hill triumphed at the recently established Southern Provincial Tournament. Coombe Hill lifted the Hartsbourne Trophy with a score of 180 on a day when six scores out of eight counted.
They edged past Sussex, Wagos and Hartsbourne by one point, with Wagos securing the Abridge Trophy on a card count-back.
The event augments the golfing calendar organised by the Association of Jewish Golf Clubs and Societies, with competitors drawn from handicap brackets. Only two low-handicap players are permitted within teams of eight men in a tournament also played under the Stapleford system.
The competition is open to entry from the affiliated clubs and societies in London and the south east. Seven teams challenged the tough course on a very hot day.
The greens proved a mystery to the majority of the players, but four golfers climbed to the top of the field with a score of 35 points.
Anthony Bond of the Sussex Jewish Golf Society won the prize for best individual score on a card count-back. An excellent performance saw him edge out Louis Leveson of Wagos who took the runners-up prize ahead of Freddie Cohen of Coombe Hill and David Moss of Hartsbourne.
