Israel captain Yossi Benayoun says that he has no idea where he will be playing next season.Benayoun, 31, starred in only his third Premier League start of the season as Arsenal came from two goals down to beat Spurs 5-2 in last weekend's north London derby. But he believes that his future lies away from the Emirates after his one-year loan deal from Chelsea ends.
The midfielder, who turns 32 in May, said: "Next season, according to my contract, I'm at Chelsea and I'll be happy to return there. In any event, I'll play at Chelsea or somewhere else.
"My inclination at the moment is to sign for a mid-table team and play another two or three years."
Benayoun joined Arsenal on loan at the end of August and has been used sparingly by Arsene Wenger. He said: "The bottom line is that I'm not playing enough games. I haven't been given enough opportunities.
"I scored the winner at Aston Villa and made a goal in the next game. But for some reason I didn't get opportunities after that, even though the team had a string of disappointing results. But I still believe in myself and that I will play much more."
Benayoun's frustrated comments came before the win over Spurs when he was recalled to the team. But after the victory he was still sounding as though he does not believe Wenger will extend his loan deal.
"To play 88 minutes, especially in a derby, is a great pleasure," he said. "I enjoyed every minute of it, but I still don't know what will be next week because at Arsenal you are at the top and the competition is tough."
Signed by former manager Carlo Ancelotti for £6m in 2010, Benayoun has slipped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge since Andreas Villas Boas took charge. But he has not given up hope of staying at Chelsea. "Maybe there will be a new manager there who will want me and things will be different," he said.
Prior to Wednesday's international friendly against Ukraine, Benayoun said that the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign "will almost certainly" be his last for Israel.
