Belmont & Edgware (204) were beaten by one run in a nail-biter against Wycombe House (202-2). With a number of key players missing, a team containing three members of the GB Junior Maccabiah team took to the field for the Middlesex Sunday League Division Two clash.

Tight spells from Jonny Feigenbaum, Stuart Davis and Neil Myeroff restricted Wycombe House to 58-1 at the halfway point but they were let off the hook by several dropped catches and poor fielding.

BECC’s reply started solidly with Feigenbaum (39) and Jon Evans looking comfortable. At 60-1 off 14 overs, BECC had a good foundation. They moved on to 136-6 with nine overs remaining. A quickfire 44 from Richie Wienburg, brought them within touching distance of victory. The last wicket pairing of Michael Blasebalk and Myeroff required seven from five balls but with two needed from two balls, captain Blasebalk was caught.

London Maccabi Vale 1sts’ relegation woes took a turn for the worse as they were beaten by one wicket at Stanmore.
