Belmont & Edgware fell narrowly short of beating Kensington & Chelsea in the Middlesex League on Sunday.
After being asked to field, BECC restricted the Kensington batsmen early on, before the run rate climbed after the halfway point. Gideon Restan bowled brilliantly and took four wickets for the second week in a row, before breaking his finger taking his second catch of the day.
Oli Simons, on his return to BECC action for the first time since 2008, and Ashley Connick each picked up three wickets, whilst Ami Wynbourne and Neil Myeroff bowled well for no reward.
Kensington & Chelsea made 180 all out, Connick taking the final two wickets with consecutive balls in the final over.
In reply, Connick departed early, with Dan Abrahams, Oli Simons and Jonny Kay playing useful knocks in the top order. None of them reached 25 though, as wickets fell regularly.
A weakened middle-order was gritty and played around star man Nick McLeod brilliantly. McLeod rolled back the years with an excellent counter-attacking 57, but with 26 needed, he was dismissed.
Missing their No. 9 batsman, the reply fell short by 21 runs as Blasebalk found a fielder in the on-side. Belmont and Edgware lost by 22 runs.
