Former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder Guy Assulin has joined Real Mallorca on a 12-month deal.
The 23 year-old Assulin became the youngest player ever to represent Israel when he was only 16.
But then he was plagued by injury and loss of confidence and has since failed to live up to his potential.
After a spell at Brighton, Assulin has spent the past few seasons playing for Hercules and Real Santander in Spain’s second tier league.
Mallorca, which is also in Spain’s second division, is now managed by former Israel goalkeeper Dudu Awat, who heads a consortium about to buy the club.
Assulin said: "When Dudu phoned and told me he is general manager of Mallorca and wanted me, I didn’t
hesitate."
Meanwhile, Awat has appointed Spartak Moscow manager Valeri Karpin as Mallorca’s head coach.
Colombia coach Jose Pekerman, 64, has signed a new four-year deal.
