V FOOTBALL North West Neasden A’s Daniel Levenfiche was crowned JC MSFL Player of the Year.
The left midfielder, 26, who joined from North London Raiders A a season-and-a-half ago, scored 11 goals in a season where NWN won the league and cup double. He received the trophy at the end-of-season awards in Edgware.
Levenfiche said: “Credit goes to Jamie Cole, Daniel Fox, Darren Yarlett and my teammates for making it a great season. I’m very proud.”
Having won the Division Four Player of the Season in 2006, the Arsenal fan and Chingford estate agent has been a revelation for Neasden since joining from North London Raiders 18 months ago. He said: “It was a big move at the time but when the offer came up I definitely wanted to play for one of the bigger teams. It was a good decision in the end.
“Until I joined Neasden, I had always been a striker but they had so many good forwards that I played left midfield. Being two-footed helped.
“It was a shame that we could not win the treble but I cannot be disappointed with winning the Peter Morrison and Player of the Year. Next year, I hope we can go further in the non-Jewish cup and win the Cyril Anekstein as that is the only piece of silverware missing from my mantelpiece.”
North London Raiders B hotshot Nicky Woolf was named Young Player of the Season.
Woodford Wanderers boss Alex Aviram was the surprise choice for Manager of the Year as North West Neasden A’s double-winning team of Jamie Cole and Daniel Fox were overlooked.
Lee Cash, last season’s Player of the Year, claimed the Golden Boot after scoring 35 goals. Gary Silver retained the Referee of the Year title.
