Simon Corney has taken over as chairman of Oldham Athletic after Simon Blitz left the club, along with director Danny Gazal.
Blitz cited personal and economic pressures for ending his seven-year association with the Latics after reportedly running up an eight-figure loss in that time.
Blitz said: "I don't feel I'm able to give the supporters the contribution they are looking for in the future."
Blitz, Gazal and Corney saved the club in 2003. Blitz said: "Last season I invested a further substantial amount of money into the club and with reduced income from season ticket sales this summer, the demands on me were becoming too great.
"I have met lots of nice people and enjoyed my time, but have found it a constant battle and uphill struggle in more recent times," said Blitz who along with Gazal will retain his shares in the club.
Corney insists the club's future is not at risk. "There's no immediate danger to the club. I hope the fans stick with us because we've had crises before and we'll get through this one.
"We have prepared our budget for the season, know our income and are also seeking other sources of income and means of financing the club. We are also talking to potential investors, but they have to be the right people to take the club forward."
Meanwhile, Joe Jacobson has been released by Oldham Athletic.
The former Wales Under 21 captain suffered an injury-plagued campaign and was told that he can leave the club by new manager Paul Dickov.
