Rose, 16, makes history for London Lions

articlemain

Alex Rose became the youngest ever player to score for London Lions' first team when he netted in the Herts County Premier win against Hatfield Social.

Sixteen-year-old Rose made his debut a few weeks ago but found the net in Lions 5-0 victory at the weekend.

Lions coach Darren Yarlett said: "I’m absolutely delighted for Alex. He only turned 16 in December and has already scored his first senior goal.

"I’ve been working with Alex for nearly two seasons now with the under-16’s and his attitude is excellent; he always wants to train, always wanting to learn and never complains, and that’s why he was invited in to train with us.

"The 1st team have been unfortunate with injuries over the last month but Alex has been able to grab an opportunity, he has played a part in the last three games which we have won.

"As long as he keeps level-headed he will do well. It’s a bright future with many of the squad aged 22 and under."
