The passing of a matriarch

March 11, 2009 12:03

It's with sadness that I write this blog entry, following the death of my grandma two weeks ago. Though expected, at the age of nearly 93, and following a recent bout of very ill health, the passing of my grandma has left a huge loss in our family, as she was the matriarch, in every sense of the word.

A strong, imposing lady, in her prime, Grandma Audrey made a significant impact on the lives of her two daughters and her seven adoring grandchildren and our wider family. I have no doubt, her influence and legacy will continue to be felt by her 12 great grandchildren too and generations to come, please G-d.

Outside of our family, her sphere of influence was immense too, contributing in many ways to the Birmingham Jewish community and Singers Hill Synagogue, as well as key projects in Israel that she supported throughout her lifetime.

I miss her greatly already, and know she will be keeping tabs on us all as we endeavour to build upon her amazing contributions and legacy.
