The local elections are hotting up, to take place just after April Fools' Day. The Lib Dems, as usual, are using Israel as a political
issue, and so we are seeing more and more anti-Semitic leaflets in
Moslem neighbourhoods. I guess they don't have any other issues.
In my own neck of the woods, Swiss Cottage Tory ward councillor Chris Philp isworking on this issue, and part of his efforts are focused on getting Gary Benardout in as ward councillor in Primrose Hill. Gary is not onlyJewish, but very keyed up on how to deal with these issues, as well as the other issues facing the people of Primrose Hill, such as the closure of post offices, economic downturns, etc.
Presently the Lib Dems hold court, and their biggest contribution is
about garbage and recycling...I still recall the Guardian's bemused note
about former Cllr Alexis Rowell's attention to detail about recycling bins...if only they had their focus on more important issues.
I am working to get Gary Benardout in office so we can work on more important issues. Though I do not support all Tory candidates, Chris and Gary are two I do, and I hope to see the former upseat MP Glenda Jackson in the national elections next year.
So come out and vote this 2 April, and if you are in Primrose Hill/Swiss Cottage, remember the names Gary Benardout and Chris Philp.
