Leeds Maccabi climbed to joint second in the LSAL table and just one point behind league leaders Commercial HQ with a 4-1 home win over bottom club Seacroft Colts.
A scrappy contest materialised, with Maccabi failing to convert a number of chances. The deadlock was eventually broken after 30 minutes when Daniel Seligman fired home from just outside the area to put Leeds in front.
Eight minutes later and it was Seligman on target again with a well-placed free-kick that gave the Colts keeper no chance.
Seacroft halved the deficit on the stroke of half-time when the Maccabi defence momentarily switched off, scoring with probably their first real attempt on goal.
The second half was pretty much as poor as the first, although Maccabi were creating more and more chances which were just not being converted.
Then Richard Black scored to make it 3-1 and then had a blatant penalty decision go against him when the referee decided to play a very questionable advantage. Steven Berke then had a goal disallowed for offside which also appeared a close decision.
Black then scored his second and a fourth for Leeds to wrap the game up.
Leeds Maccabi assistant-manager Charles Simmons said: "We were poor in terms of the quality of football that we know that we are capable of playing, despite the win.
"We were missing a couple of key players, but we still had enough quality on the day to have put in a better performance.
"Saying that, three points are still three points and we are looking forward to next week’s game against one of our main rival’s, New Unicorn, which is always one of the biggest games of the season as both clubs will be challenging for the title come the end of the season."
