Konzon double helps knights hit Hendon for six

East London Knights were biting at the bit to get out on the pitch and put right what they got so wrong last weekend. Two goals from in form starlet Michael Konzon and singles for James Ryan, Zach Forest, Michael Winehouse and Matt West saw the knights hit the hawkes for six.

The pre match team talk by knights cheif Ryan was simple 'Nothing but a victory will be good enough'. They started like a house on fire with Michael Konzon handing the away side a dream start, catching Hendon a little cold on their heals with a short corner between himself and Steve Clements. The ball was layed back to Konzon and whipped a wicked ball to the far post and evaded the goalkeeper and nestled sweetly into the top corner.

Hendon Hawkes started their campaign with two convincing wins over Team JLGB and U.J.I.A but the knights were simply blowing them away with there constant threats on the wing and tremendous passing and moving. The knights earnt them self another corner inside ten minutes and this time the home side were made to pay, Konzon yet again involved swinging in a cross which found Josh Danan who nodded back a clever header to Ryan, who then layed a pass accross to Zach Forest bagging his first of the season.

James Ryan was in the thick of things yet again, although missing glorious oppurtunities his driving pace and hard graft was proving too much to handle for the home side. James was slid through one-on-one and rounded the keeper well, an open goal was waiting infront of him but the angle was a little tight and he just dragged his shot wide.

Moments later James was played in again, surely to make amends for his earlier miss, he tried to cleverly dink a ball over the keeper but had to watch on agonisingly as his shot rose just over the crossbar.

On the half hour mark the game was put to bed, this time James beautifully flicking on a Cristiano Ronaldo-esque pass into the path of Justin Bell overlapping briliantly and muscled his way past two defenders and crossed a low pass into Matt West, who hit a first time effort low and hard leaving the keeper with no chance.

The away side took their foot off the gas a little toward the latter part of the first half, maybe had Hendon brought there shooting boots with them the first half may have ended a little differently.

Hendon grabbed them self a consolation 5 minutes into the second half, a loose pass was latched onto and a tame effort which looked like a simple claim, slipped through the fingers of Jon Labi.

East London Knights killed off any hopes for Hendon by making it 4-1 as another great move involving Forest and West, played Ryan in down the left flank and delivered a long pass to Konzon. A chance that looked like it had gone begging was excellently tucked away by an outstretched leg of Konzon.

The away side looked like scoring on every occasion they went forward, and the grabbed a fifth on the hour mark. Justin taking a quick throw in to second half substitute Michael Winehouse, who headed on to Forest controlling the ball well and slipped Ryan in for another one-on-one, this time he despatched his shot low and hard to the keepers near post and grabbed a deserved goal for his efforts.

Assistant Manager Marks, was given a 25 minute run out in the second half and should have bagged a brace him self, Matt West looped a sweet pass into his path and he smashed his shot on the half volley just over the bar.

Michael Winehouse found him self in acres of space down the right and he delivered a quality cross plumb onto the head of Marks, with the goal gaping somehow he blasted his header wide.

Winehouse had the last say on the matter, James grabbed the ball for a quick throw in and found Winey with room to control and superbly lob the goalkeeper. A terrific way to end a great display by the Knights.

Assitant Manager Michael Marks said " We had alot to prove from last weeks performance, especially the first half. On sunday we literally blew hendon away, our football was amazing at times. Its great to actually see the rewards from all the hard work the lads have put in pre season. We have a huge game next week and if we perform like this the I have no quarms who will be taking the points."
