Michael Klinger hailed his Adelaide Strikers after they began their defence of the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash League with an opening day victory.

Klinger led the South Australians to their first trophy in 15 years after last season’s stunning victory over New South Wales and is now targeting a repeat success.

The in-form batsman bludgeoned an impressive 46 as the Strikers overcame the Melbourne Renegades by 69-runs after posting a total of 189-5.

And the former Melbourne Maccabi man revealed he couldn’t have wished for a better start to the campaign.
“Everything went pretty much according to plan,” he said.
