Michael Klinger finished as the seventh top-run scorer in the Big Bash League.
Klinger, who will captain Gloucestershire in the County Championship this summer, smashed 71 in Adelaide Strikers’ final match against the Hobart Hurricanes but his heroics were not enough to earn his team a place in the finals.
He said: "I don’t really look at the stats that much but consistency is something I pride myself on.
"I’ve been able to do that over the last four or five years. But I’m a bit hard on myself, sometimes I could be doing a little bit better."
Klinger is looking forward to his second stint in England and he has not given up hopes of featuring in the Ashes.
"Obviously I’m still dreaming of playing for Australia and I think by being over there in England during the Ashes, and if I can finish the season well here and make some runs playing county cricket, you never know."
