Michael Klinger, 33, was this week looking to stake his claim for a place in the Ashes, lining up for Australia A against Alistair Cook’s England team.
"The the way Australian cricket is at the moment, if you can stand up over the next few games, or the whole season really, you can put your name up there for Test cricket,” said Klinger.
"From a batting point of view age doesn’t mean that much and in terms of my fitness I feel I can play for a long time to come. I just need to keep scoring runs."
