Filmmakers who made a documentary last year examining Iran's nuclear ambitions are asking members of the public to join a new online campaign highlighting the oppressive nature of the Iranian regime.

The Faces4Freedom campaign has been launched to protest against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's presence at this week's UN session.

The aim is to encourage people from around the world to upload videos and messages of solidarity with the Iranian population.

They said they wanted to use social media tools, employed so effectively by Arab Spring protesters this year, to show the Iranian people that others care about them.
