Rabbi Yaacov Grunewald is returning to South London, 43 years after leaving the post of Brixton cheder head.

Having retired as Pinner Synagogue minister after 34 years, Rabbi Grunewald is to lead the South London Synagogue on a part-time basis.

Announcing the appointment, South London chair Geoffrey Harris looked forward to "a long and happy relationship".

Rabbi Grunewald said: "It is a new beginning for me and I am very excited about completing the circle and coming back to South London."
