Times columnist Giles Coren has made himself unpopular with Poles by claiming that, "the ancestors of these Poles now going home used to amuse themselves at Easter by locking Jews in a synagogue and setting fire to it".

Letters to The Times written by outraged Poles point out that more non-Jewish Poles have be made "Righteous among the Gentiles" than any other nation.
