George Galloway, the Respect MP, breached guidelines on impartiality by encouraging listeners to demonstrate against Israel in his Talksport radio programme, the broadcasting standards authority, Ofcom, has found.
The topical affairs phone-in he presents on the station moved away “from legitimate debate and started to campaign on a major matter of controversy”, Ofcom said in a decision published today.
Mr Galloway encouraged listeners to attend protests against Israeli actions in Gaza at the end of last year.
But Ofcom rejected complaints that he had not given enough airtime for those putting pro-Israeli views.
