Fundraiser Regina Waldman was praised for raising money in the present financial crisis by speakers at a gala dinner. The event, in aid of the Kadima School for Children with Special Needs in Netanya, yielded £15,000.

The 120 guests at the Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Community Centre heard Leslie Silver, a past chairman of Leeds United, congratulated Mrs Waldman. Yomi Jacobs of British Friends of Kadima also praised Mrs Waldman.

"To raise such a sum during the present climate was phenomenal," he said.
