A new project offering students help to prepare for job applications is being promoted on campuses this month.
Backed by UJS and Jeneration, recruitment specialist Simon Rickman will tour universities presenting free workshops which will provide advice on recognising strengths and weaknesses and the best way to land a dream job.
Mr Rickman said: "I've been in recruitment for more than 25 years and friends have always asked me to help their sons and daughters apply for jobs.
"I like to coach people and have always done so with great pleasure and some success.
"I had the opportunity to help graduates because there are fewer jobs around. Because of the cost of going to university parents need to know they are getting the best return for their investment in sending a child to university."
Workshops and one-to-one sessions see Mr Rickman prepare students to apply for jobs, and, once they have been invited for an interview, to practice set-piece techniques.
Earlier this month he spoke to Jewish students at campuses in Cambridge and Sussex. He is due to hold similar sessions in Nottingham, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester in the next six weeks.
Richard Verber, UJS director of education and programmes, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with someone who has such extensive experience in graduate recruitment.
"In addition to our Apprentice and career network evenings, this continues UJS' support for students looking for employment after university."
