The headteacher of Broughton Jewish Cassel Fox Primary School in Salford has been praised by inspectors for transforming it over the last two years.
Mel Eastwood had played "a pivotal role in turning around the school's fortunes" since it was classified by Ofsted as a school requiring improvement two years ago.
She has shown "a constant, determined commitment to moving the school forward," said inspectors who have now upgraded the Orthodox academy to the status of a good school.
Both the most able pupils and those described as "disadvantaged" reached above average standards by the end of their time at Broughton, Ofsted said. Although sometimes teachers' knowledge was not deep enough, pupils made "good progress" in all subjects.
The school worked hard to promote British values and pupils were able to "talk about other religions".
The special educational needs co-ordinator also received praise for her "successful" work.
