A consultation is moving ahead on plans to merge Moriah and Hertsmere Jewish Day schools.

The two primaries are both part of the Jewish Community Academy Trust, which is run by the United Synagogue.

Falling numbers at Moriah in Pinner have put its future under question.

Now JCAT chief executive Kirsten Jowett has confirmed that Moriah has received too few applications to make a reception class for autumn viable. “As such, we are pressing ahead with the consultation for Moriah and Hertsmere to merge from September 2020,” she said.

The consultation will run until February 28 but a decision from the Department for Education is not expected until just before Pesach.

Moriah is a one-form entry school, while Hertsmere in Radlett has two.
