More than 30 students took part in a weekend retreat in Bournemouth organised by the Union of Jewish Students and University Jewish Chaplaincy.
Representatives of 11 small and medium sized Jewish Societies from the central and southern regions braved bad weather to enjoy a barbeque and stroll on the beach.
Topics up for discussion included Jewish views on gambling, creationism and social action.
Becky Foale from Bournemouth JSoc said: “The connection was immediate between everyone and you could feel the closeness between us after just one weekend. The sense of Jewish pride was evident.”
The weekend provided students with the perfect opportunity to network, build relationships and share ideas about their respective societies. Many used the opportunity to explore ways JSocs can work together.
Reading JSoc’s Josh Paice said: “I’ve been on five different Shabbaton weekends previously and this one will certainly stand out as being the best Shabbat experience.”
