A class of boys from a London primary school was sent home after a teacher tested positive for coronavirus.

Pardes House Primary School in Finchley told parents the teacher had become unwell on Tuesday and received the test result on Thursday night.

Parents were told that boys in the class should isolate at home  for 14 days from the date the teacher felt unwell , until Monday week.

The area used by the teacher has been closed and was being deep-cleaned on Friday.

The case “did not originate within the school, thanks to the measures we have had in place throughout,” parents were informed.

The school is due to break up for the summer today.

Public Health England and the local authority have been notified.

Barnet recorded the second highest number of Covid-19 cases in London last week.
