Fighting the Hate with Melanie Philips

In conversation with JC Editor Daniel Schwammenthal

Join us for a conversation with Melanie Phillips, one of Britain’s most prominent journalists and commentators, discussing her urgent new book Fighting the Hate: A Handbook for Jews Under Siege.

Since the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023, Jews across the West have faced an unprecedented wave of hostility and violence. For many, this moment has been profoundly destabilising, raising painful questions about safety, identity and the future of diaspora communities.

In Fighting the Hate, Phillips examines the forces behind this resurgence of antisemitism, showing how longstanding prejudices have been repackaged for a modern audience. She offers clear, practical guidance for confronting the varied forms of hostility now facing Jewish communities, and calls for renewed Jewish confidence, clarity and resilience.

Melanie will be in conversation with JC Editor Daniel Schwammenthal, exploring the book’s themes and the wider political and cultural context.

The evening will conclude with audience Q&A, followed by a book signing.
