Join former attorney general Sir Michael Ellis; Labour MP and chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group Against Antisemitism Joani Reid; and Jewish Leadership Council head of legal David Toube for an in-depth discussion on law, policing and Jews in the UK. Moderated by JC political correspondent Lorin Bell-Cross.

Events since October 7, 2023 have exposed profound concerns in the Jewish community over the authorities’ response to antisemitism.

Flashpoints for heated criticism of police include the failure to clamp down on pro-Palestine marches that threaten synagogues and rhetoric which strays into hate speech, along with the huge controversy over the ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans.

But there are also questions over the Crown Prosecution Service and its failure to bring charges against allegations of antisemitism.

Our expert panel will consider whether the criticism is justified and how trust can be restored, in an essential guide to what the future may hold for Jews in the UK.

Panellists:

The Rt Hon Sir Michael Ellis KBE KC is a former Attorney General of England and Wales and was the MP for Northampton North between 2010-2024.

Joani Reid is the Labour MP for East Kilbride and Strathaven and chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group Against Antisemitism

David Toube is Jewish Leadership Council head of legal and was formerly was an expert advisor at the Commission for Countering Extremism.
