● How we met
"Anthony and I had mutual friends in London so I used to see him occasionally when he was in town," Emily says. "It wasn't until last June that we started chatting and seemed to get on. After a couple of weeks Anthony asked me out and we went to The Grove in Watford for drinks. We were out for over four hours and the time just flew by." Anthony recalls Emily "always bullying me. I guess it was something like the schoolyard days when kids are mean to the person they like. When I added Emily on Facebook last June, we quickly found that we shared a lot of viewpoints. It soon occurred to me that Emily and I would go well together as a couple.
● The proposal
Emily: "Anthony and I went to stay with his mum in Southport over the December holidays. He had been a bit secretive in the week leading up to it. We arrived in Southport for Shabbat and after lunch went for a walk along the sea front. Anthony started to talk about family being very important and things like that and I wasn't sure where the conversation was going. Eventually we sat on a bench and we were talking about sitting there together when we are older, to which Anthony responded: 'Well, if we're going to be together when we're older then I guess I should do something about it.' Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him." Anthony says that the morning after the proposal, "I gave her a 90-minute warning to get a bag packed for a holiday in Amsterdam. Once she got over the shock of only having a short time to get ready, she was ecstatic and we had a great time.
● The wedding
"We are planning to have our chupah at Edgware Synagogue and to have the dinner at the Palm Hotel," Emily explains. "We can't wait to celebrate with our family and friends."
● The honeymoon
"The plan is to win the lottery and go on a world cruise," Anthony explains. "Failing that, as long as there is a beach, sunshine and my darling wife, I will be very happy."
