V Potatoes and matzah are fast losing favour in my household — despite the wonderful recipes I’ve been trying out this year.
We celebrated Mr P’s birthday with flourless chocolate cake and a matzah-based high tea. But I’m beyond fed up with the crumbs — the crumbs!
So I’m now dreaming of the chometz we can feast on after Yomtov. I am really looking forward to tucking into a post-Passover pizza. To get into the spirit (and torture myself) I’ve been musing on some of the nicest kosher carbs I’ve had recently.
l Smoked salmon bagel from Carmelli’s, Daniels or Orli’s.
l Chicken schnitzel from Tish. Delicious, golden-crumbed, juicy chicken.
l Chocolate palet from One Ashbourne.
Melting chocolate mousse with a biscuit base and shiny ganache coating.
A chocaholic’s dream.
l Soft warm pita with Hummus Bar’s smooth oriental beef-topped hummus. Tel Aviv treats in Golders Green.
l “Everything Bagel” crispy egg from catering company, Feast by Ed Shaerf. I tasted this crunchy-coated runny egg at his pre-Pesach pop up dinner.
l Challah Mummy’s Purim star — have a look on www.thejc.com. However you break your carb-fast, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
