Zichron Menachem, a leading charity supporting young Israeli and British cancer patients, has held its bi-annual Summer Cut event in London - with 39 girls donating their hair to help children undergoing cancer treatment.
The event, which took place in a festive, family-friendly setting, collected hair donations to be used in wigs for cancer patients under 25, who have lost hair as a result of chemotherapy.
Each girl donated at least 30cm of hair, with Adi,12, donating the longest braid, measuring a spectacular 45cm.
Among the donors was a set of twins and several girls who were making their second donation. Others had decided to cut their hair for the charity after being inspired to do so by friends or siblings who had previously taken part.

Ora, nine, took part alongside her best friend, with the two girls getting their hair cut sitting next to one another. Ora said: “I feel very happy knowing I am helping somebody”.
Following the haircut, the “Braids of Hope” board allowed girls to affix their freshly cut braids as a show of their commitment.
Organisers said the atmosphere was upbeat, as participants and their families' enjoyed activities, including a bouncy castle, glitter tattoos, nail art, and makeup sessions. Free popcorn, candy floss, and other treats were given out, and each hair donor received a commemorative hoodie, a certificate and a cupcake made by Jenny’s cupcakes.
Livya, eight, who was encouraged to take part by a friend who had previously donated her hair, said she had wanted to do the mitzvah in honour of her grandfather. “It feels good,” she said, proudly giving a thumbs up.

Miriam Begal, one of the volunteers at the makeup stand, said: “The buzz never stops at Zichron Menachem haircutting events. It’s beautiful to see the children’s beaming faces and so special to see everyone giving from all [parts] of the community.”
Makeup artist Chaya Denciger, who has donated her hair twice in the past, returned this year as a volunteer.
The donated hair would be crafted into wigs and help restore confidence and provide comfort to young cancer patients, said heads of Zichron Menachem.
The money raised would help fund the Zichron Menachem summer camp and various activities at their House of Dreams centre in Israel, which helps support children with cancer.
At the conclusion of the event, Zichron Menachem UK chairman and CEO Eli Seliger thanked the community for its overwhelming support. “I want to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part and offered their time and support. The kindness shown by the children who donated their hair and the incredible generosity from all our donors has been nothing short of extraordinary. It’s deeply moving to witness such unity, compassion and commitment from our community.”
