Young brothers run up £9,000 for cancer charity with 100k challenge

Ben and Jake Musikant support Chai in thanks for its assistance to their grandfather

To celebrate the recovery of their grandfather from pancreatic cancer, two South Hampstead brothers collectively ran 100 kilometres in a week to raise some £9,000.

Ben and Jake Musikant wanted to support cancer care charity Chai, whose services had benefited their grandad, Bryan Franks, who had undergone critical surgery and had been in intensive care for more than two weeks.

Ben, 11, completed 77k (Mr Franks is 77); his ten-year-old brother did the remaining 23k.

Their joint effort required 5am alarm calls, perseverance and a strong support network of family and friends.

The money will go to Chai’s children, teenage and family service, which assists those impacted by a cancer diagnosis within their family.

On finishing the challenge, Ben said the week had flown by, “not only because we were having fun but because we knew we were helping Chai, which works so hard to support our friends, family and all those who contact them in need”.
