Auld Acquaintances, a London charity established by Scottish Jewish ex-pats, has raised £10,000 for Jewish Care Scotland from a film night at the Everyman Muswell Hill and other activities.

The film, Wild Rose, had an appropriately Scottish theme, telling the story of the quest of a young mother from Glasgow to make it as a country singer in Nashville. The 200 guests also had the opportunity to question the movie’s Glaswegian writer, Nicole Taylor.

Jewish Care Scotland chair Richard Groden said: “It is fantastic to see our fellow Glaswegians continuing to support local Jewish charities from afar. We have a long history in Glasgow of looking after our own and Ralph Strang and his committee at Auld Acquaintances are continuing in this tradition.”

This money will go towards new furniture for its community centre.
