UJIA women are back in Manchester with £30,000 event

articlemain

UJIA has profitably relaunched its Manchester ladies’ division with an evening of laughter and music which raised £30,500.

The event, featuring opera singer Amelia Clarke, the Afternoon Delight Barbershop Quartet and comedienne Sindhu Vee, attracted 90 women from across the community.
Hilary Krell made the appeal to raise money for a cookery project UJIA supports in Northern Israel.

Through it, disadvantaged women get the opportunity of being employed to prepare healthy school meals. Some of the profits from the enterprise go back into the local Migdal Ha’Emek community.

UJIA Manchester chair Nici Wertheim said that given the charity’s vision “of a strong British Jewry with a lifelong commitment to Israel, it is wonderful to bring so many women together to work towards this goal”.
